Important Message To Our Part D Clients

Changes to Part D in 2026

Valued Clients,

The Medicare landscape continues to evolve, and for the 2026 plan year there are important updates you should be aware of as you prepare for the Annual Enrollment Period.

The changes that began in 2025 with the Inflation Reduction Act — most notably the $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket costs for covered prescriptions — are continuing to reshape the Part D marketplace. While this cap remains a tremendous benefit for Medicare recipients, insurance carriers are still adjusting to the financial impact. As a result, many plans are raising premiums, altering formularies, and in some cases, eliminating plans or leaving certain markets altogether.

Additionally, as many of you know, some carriers eliminated compensation to independent agents beginning in 2025. This change reduced our ability to be directly involved in servicing certain standalone Part D plans, but we remain committed to helping our clients navigate their options.

As a Martin & Associates client, you continue to have access to our Medicare Insurance Direct tool.

Beginning October 1, 2025, you can view 2026 Part D plan options, compare benefits, and prepare for the Annual Enrollment Period, which runs from October 15 through December 7. Any new plan selections will take effect on January 1, 2026, with your previous coverage ending automatically on December 31, 2025.

Please take time to review your plan carefully, and if you need guidance, we are here to support you. For help getting started, be sure to watch our introductory video and follow the tutorial for using Medicare Insurance Direct.

Thank you for your continued trust as we work through these industry changes together.

Sincerely,

Ray Martin
President, Martin & Associates Insurance Services, Inc.

P.S. The changes to Part D due to the Inflation Reduction Act do not impact our ability to service your Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage plan and if you have any questions related to those policies, please reach out to our office separately at 800.464.4941.

What are the dates of the Annual Enrollment Period?

The Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 - December 7. Plan changes need to be requested within that window of time and your new plan would take effect on January 1st of the following year. What are the main changes to Part D plans in 2026?

One of the main changes going into effect for 2026 is the out-of-pocket maximum cap of $2,100/year on covered prescriptions for Medicare recipients. This however may result in higher monthly premiums, smaller formularies (number of covered Rxs by the plans), carriers exiting the Part D market and your agents unable to offer some plans.
